What life is like as a Manchester student

Grace is a student on the BSc Pharmacology with Industrial Experience course at Manchester. Here, she describes the highlights of student life in the city.

Studying at The University of Manchester has been an amazing experience for me.

Manchester is renowned for its cutting-edge research and innovative teaching methods, which is important for students studying a science-based degree who want to be able to keep up with the constant change in the industry.

I applied to study here because I knew I wanted to be able to explore a new city, whilst also being able to be surrounded by other students, and Manchester is known for its large student population in areas such as Fallowfield.

The campus community allows you to feel welcome, as so many people around you are also new to the city. The public transport between Fallowfield, the university campus and the city is also great; you never have to wait long which is well suited to the fast-paced student lifestyle.

From the moment you get to Manchester, you can see how vibrant it is. The city is filled with academic opportunities for students and a plethora of new experiences.

Manchester offers food, nightlife and activities that cater to every taste and preference. My personal favourite is the array of cafes around campus and areas such as the Northern Quarter.

Whilst studying here I have had access to an array of different societies that have helped me grow and make some amazing friends. I have also gained new skills through part-time roles working for the university, for example, as a content creator.

I truly think Manchester is a great city filled with amazing people who will help you feel at home.
